I believe that one of the valuable attributes of a good chess player is strategy; they are often wonderful strategists. Strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a long-term goal or aim. In life, it can be a helpful thing to have strategies for the aims and goals we have, a kind of master plan of how to get what you want and to where you want. Self-made guiding principles that are followed through, in charting a way forward through the choppy sea of life. In doing so, nasty surprises may not be totally eliminated, but can be greatly reduced to negligible levels.
However, a word of caution is that in doing so, there has to be a healthy amount of strategic ambiguity. Yes, strategic ambiguity in a world of competition in almost everything; from studies to work/business is a helpful tool. I do not mean to be apocalyptic but, the realities of life seem to suggest that perhaps not everybody is charitable towards another. This is where strategic ambiguity can be helpful in protecting you from uncharitable groups and individuals along the way to achieving your goals. Reading and knowing situations and people at a given point in time and place can help to inform you if it is worth being clear or ambiguous.
You know your intentions well, but you may not know or be so sure of other people’s intentions. Make god use of your social intelligence skills. Just because you could be strategically ambiguous as and when necessary, you should maintain consistency regarding you/your organisation’s strategy. When you review situations and see where you have been, where you are at the moment and if your goal is within reach, is how you can tell whether you are making good or slow or no progress. Where re-calibration of particular aspects is necessary, do just that. Additionally, your wellness matters and should be maintained. Furthermore, where other professional expertise can be of help, mine inclusive; you can make your wise choices at your convenience.
I wish you well.
The state of being aware of and responding to your surroundings is very worthwhile. However, when this is amplified as in extension of the area covered, this comes with a wealth of valuable insight at your disposal which may not have been privy to. In a world where individuals in institutions of learning, corporate affairs or otherwise, are angling to exhibit excellence in their work, expanded consciousness can be a helpful tool in taking care of one’s affairs.
In work and study, individuals often look to ascend their ranks, assume more responsibilities and reap the financial remuneration attributed to progression. Given the choice between an attractive salary/business returns and a small stipend for the same amount of time and energy expended, I believe that the choice would be obvious for many people. As a healer, expanding my awareness is pertinent to and helps my work.
Expanded awareness comes with the possibility of being more discerning and decisive in matters. A miniature similitude that I can give is that an Advanced Level student of Politics may know that he/she wants to study Politics at university. However, when he/she studies Politics to PhD or Doctor of philosophy level, the knowledge base is comparatively vast in relation to the Advanced Level stage. In work or business, during the period of their apprenticeship, the apprentice is unlikely to be as knowledgeable, skilled and experienced as his/her employer.
Expanded consciousness can lead to transformation of the individual both materially and spiritually, and it can also be cathartic. Allotting a few moments of time with regularity is not asking for too much, given the short, medium and long term benefits to be derived. You may find that you love what you do, you are more innovative or come up with such ideas with ease to better your work or products. Strategic planning may be done with more ease, experientially; it may not be stressful but enjoyable. I believe that expanding one’s consciousness can aid him/her in taking better care of their affairs.
I wish you well.
Commonly, our individuality is characterised by wishes, goals and aspirations. I’m yet to meet a person who has no wishes or aspirations whatsoever. More often than not, the individual has an intended life or business trajectory that he/she would like to follow through. However, for best results, the minute specifics in the course of the said trajectory/life plan may need some refining and polishing. My reference to refining and polishing is that at times, little or no attention is paid to the possibility of the hurdles, twists and turns as in time and space.
Tempestuous moments are not in all situations but a mere possibility in some, and should not be overlooked when we are deeply immersed in harmonics. Yes, having contingency plans or measures are a clever thing to do; paying attention to those ‘blind spots’ and ‘dips’. Crop farmers like having rain on a regular basis because of the benefits derived therefrom. However they are also mindful of the possibility of thunder and lightning, and their ancillary effects. Buildings have lightening rods or lightening conductors that interface with the earth in the event of lightening; that is a contingency measure.
Please do not allow your mind to harbour pessimism, no. Your plan/project is work in progress, do not cease to plan until your goals are realised. Additionally, you are not obliged to lay open your ‘pack of cards’ for others to evaluate. You are a good strategist and optimist, who is also realistic; this helps the feasibility and viability of your plans. You are a good leader who takes steps to be risk averse or, at least safety measures for potential risk which may not always translate into actual risk.
You are the mastermind of your projects, you know what to do as and when the need arises, including the professional input you can enlist, mine inclusive, if you so wish. The excitement that comes with success in a particular field, business or project is euphoric, a well deserved feeling.
I wish you well.
The word February is derived from the word Februa; which means cleansing or purification. Cleansing means to sanitize, decontaminate or purify. The need to cleanse is driven by the unwelcome intrusions in and around an individual; on the physical, spiritual and emotional levels.
At the physical level this could be particular people or environments that do not foster one’s well-being. I have heard statements like: “That place is so depressing.” “That person is so draining.” Conversely: “I feel uplifted when I go there.” “It is so energising, inspiring or empowering being around that person.” Spiritually, adverse states could manifest as spiritual invasions, which if unchecked could fester into a quagmire incrementally. At the emotional level, there can be feelings of discomfort or unease, tension, inexplicable sadness/depression.
Please note: I’m not saying that the suffering or less fortunate should suffer neglect and abandonment, no. Rather, they should be helped in our various capacities, in the safest manner possible. Completing and following through particular tasks, can be an uphill struggle for some individuals who feel usurped by dis-empowering situations. One may attempt to challenge this explanation by saying: “It is all in the mind.” I say you are partly right, because the mind has both intuitive and rational abilities to inform the body about what is going on in and around it. What is more, particular practical steps often need to be taken, in concert with non empirical ones, for one to experience relief from affliction.
The range of therapies and treatments that are available to us help in addressing particular states/conditions, that can manifest in an individual in different ways. For example, we have got counsellors, physicians, pharmacists, healers and herbalists; all of whom have different specialisms, and can make particular contributions in the well-being of people. When one feels impounded by a state/s that seem insurmountable, he/she should not feel confined to the month of February to enhance their well-being. Purification/cleansing can be done in any month, including February. Please do take care of yourself and your loves ones.
I wish you well.
In our personal, business and professional lives, making particular decisions can be a nerve-racking moment for some, while others relish any such opportunity. However, when you have facts about the matter on which a decision is to be made, that should facilitate you to make an informed decision. Be decisive, you will have something to carry out or otherwise. Indecision can have drawbacks, including missed or lost opportunities. Therefore indecision can be a barrier to progression, achieving goals or success.
Being decisive is of critical importance to the growth of your business. It also allows for business development or, professional development in your chosen avocation, including research. If you are decisive, you can build on and vastly expand your ventures and body of knowledge. Sometimes one may think: ”what if something goes wrong?” How about the thought: “what if all goes well?”
Should you inadvertently make a decision that yields wrong results; firstly, you will have the satisfaction that at least you made a decision. Secondly, there is always room for improvement. I’m not advocating recklessness, but imparting information about remedial actions. You can always evaluate the situation and use your wit and other strengths to salvage any mishap/s. It is also part of your growth, both individually and in a corporate sense. It is also a pertinent phenomenon in the ascendancy to success.
A quality that is common in leadership and in the business fraternity is the ability to take risks. You have to decide whether to take that risk or not. You have to make sound and timely decisions, because your support-base and clientele count on you to do so. In being decisive, you may not be all things to all men and women. It may seem like a situation that is far from desirable, but at least it is the truth. Not being decisive can also be a risky sanctuary. It is best to emancipate yourself from the mental slavery of not being decisive.
Say what you mean and mean what you say. In doing so you exhibit clarity and honesty, and you earn the trust and confidence of those that you transact with.
In being decisive, do not lose hope that you are in a confining situation that you cannot extricate yourself from. Do forget that there is always a rationale for your decisions, as well as room for rectification where necessary.
I wish you well.
“How did they get so smart? Their intellectual powers were developed by a medium that fostered abstract thought”. – Neil Postman
Abstract thought allows us to think of things that, if followed through and actualised, often result in innovations and actions that are beneficial to many. Abstract thinking allows us to journey out of the present moment as in here and now. Abstract thinking is like tapping into a repository of ideas that you can implement for your betterment. A person thinks of doing or making something that is not present. A lot of innovations are products of abstract thinking.
On a corporate level, abstract thinking can give rise to prudent strategic planning, implementation and increased customer satisfaction of your products and services. Abstract thinking can give to realities of value addition to your products and services. Organisations and leaders often talk about their vision for the future. It is that abstract thinking that is translated into reality in due course, and when successful, the benefits are trans-boundary. In such circumstances, it can therefore be said that the organisation’s or leader’s success is attributed to abstract thinking.
On an individual level, you can use abstract thinking to foster good business ideas and good leadership. Let me make reference to a commonly used old saying: “You need speculate to accumulate”. The speculation aspect is abstract thinking action. Individuals who are experiencing stagnation and not making good progress in achieving their desired goals have a course of action that they could take.
Exploration of abstract thinking can bring about relief from such confining and repulsive situations. I was once in a situation that did not foster progress; in fact it subverted developmental thoughts and ideas. I now celebrate my new found freedom to put my skills and abilities to good use; for the benefit of myself and others.
One of the greetings often used in churches at the end of the service is: “May peace be with you”. The Islamic greeting: “Asalaam alaykum” has the same meaning: “Peace be with you”. Indeed, this is a very true assertion; I believe that when you are at peace, you can be more innovative; be it in leadership or business.
I wish you well.
